Turmeric is one of the most popular seasonings in Asian cuisine. However, Iranian scientists have found another positive quality of this substance – it can be used as a remedy against migraine and severe headaches. This "ability" of the mixture due to the fact that it consists of substances that have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect.
However, opponents of this were scientists from Minnesota and Illinois. They believe that it is not rational to use the additive as a treatment agent, since curcumin (the main component of the seasoning) is in itself an unstable and reactive compound. The body processes it for a long time, so the therapeutic effect is quite difficult to achieve.
Clinical studies conducted by Iranian scientists have confirmed the healing effect of the supplement. Curcumin in combination with omega-3 fatty acids suppresses the production of tumor necrosis factor, which provokes pain as well as inflammation of the nervous tissue. Due to this, migraine attacks are suppressed. For the prevention of this disease it is recommended to use turmeric daily, but only if there are no contraindications.
