Popular opiate painkillers can lead to diabetes

Some popular medicines aimed at relieving patients of various pain symptoms, one way or another, sooner or later appear in the dock – they are periodically reassessed. So this cup did not pass one of the most popular opiate-based painkillers called tramadol, which is strictly prescribed and is characterized by a really high level of effectiveness against various types of pain and pain syndromes. However, despite its effectiveness, today the US Federal Food and Drug Administration has decided to temporarily suspend its sale in the United States.

The fact is that previously a team of talented scientists from the University of San Diego released their study on the hidden side effects of tramadol, which in fact turned out to be not so safe. Firstly, through fairly lengthy clinical studies and analyzes, it turned out that the systematic use of tramadol – even as part of a minimum prescription – leads to an increased risk of hypoglycemia, a special condition of the body when its sugar level approaches dangerous minimum levels.

And secondly, tramadol can provoke some types of intestinal inflammation, some of which can be extremely dangerous for those patients who already have a predisposition to ulcers and other conditions of this type. Thus, one of the most effective painkillers in the United States is now gradually losing its safe status and scientists are seriously considering the need to find and secure a safer and no less effective alternative, since tramadol shows an increased risk.

On the other hand, it is not yet clear how high the threat is generally posed by this medication – there is an assumption that the detected danger in itself is only a new batch of tramadol, somewhat modified to minimize side effects. It remains only to wait for the final result of this medical investigation in the United States.
