Today, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention presented a uniquely indicative report on how long-term social isolation and the current situation around the spread of a new type of coronavirus affects the social climate in the United States – we are talking mainly about a significant increase in the level of deaths from overdose of various kinds of drugs … And despite the fact that in the new study-report, experts mainly touch on deaths associated with an overdose of synthetic opiates, it still becomes obvious that this trend is quite large-scale in all respects.
It is worth noting that the Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the United States has been monitoring the trend towards an increase in the frequency of use of various kinds of drugs for quite a long time – observation has been conducted since May 2020, when the spread of the new type of coronavirus COVID-19 became the most widespread in the territory American states.
It turned out that in comparison with the same period of the previous year, the level of deaths from drug overdose on average increased by 34.4%, which is a really impressive indicator in a negative sense – and in total from May to the end of November of this year, in the United States it was officially more than 81 thousand deaths from drug overdose were registered, mainly of synthetic opiates.
